Hey there Yoisho fam! As many of us know by now, matcha has become very popular and has experienced a rise in popularity over the past few years. Many drink it because they like the taste, but majority also drinks it because of the health-benefits attached. Some have even replaced their daily coffee for a matcha of some sort, and we’re going to dive deeper into the differences, and why matcha is clearly a winner for us.

First of all, as many of the non-tea drinkers might now know, tea, especially green tea, is a great source of caffeine. However, what makes matcha so special is the unique blend of caffeine and L-theanine, which leaves you with a smooth and focused alertness that lasts throughout the whole day. L-theanine is a natural amino acid, usually found in green tea leaves. It has calming and relaxing effects on the mind and body and promotes the production of alpha brain waves which lead to a state of relaxed alertness. But the best thing about this all is: you’ll never experience the ‘coffee jitters’ again. Some people are immune for this phenomenon, but some will probably know what we’re talking about: the feeling of anxiety and anxious jitters after having a cup of coffee. Well, because of the special caffeine/L-theanine blend in matcha, you can say goodbye to those.

Second of all, matcha is extremely rich in antioxidants. So, whilst you’re enjoying a delicious drink, you’re also providing your body with many antioxidants which are known for their anti-inflammatory and metabolism boosting properties. Which also adds to the third benefit: that it’s gentle on the gut. Coffee has quite a high acidity rate, which is not that great for the sensitive stomachs among us. It can sometimes lead to discomfort, urgent trips to the bathroom and acid reflux. Au contraire, matcha has alkalizing properties along with chlorophyll, soothing the digestive system and promoting gut health.

Lastly, beyond mere caffeine, matcha is a filled with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, making it a very nourishing drink for daily consumption. So besides energizing your body, it also nourishes you from within.

In summary, while coffee has held its place in morning rituals for a long time, matcha is steadily becoming a new champion in many morning routines. Sustainable energy, antioxidant-rich nourishment and overall well-being are always a plus when you are enjoying a nice drink, so, why settle for a fleeting caffeine fix when you enjoy the sustainability of matcha? We at Yoisho know the answer, and for the ones who have not tried yet, we got you.
